Wine With Cheese

One of the favorite accompaniments of wine is cheese and many people simply savor the delicious combination. The wonderful taste of cheese along with the flavor of exotic wine does make a delectable combination. The fruity aromas of wine and the tannins are not subdued by the creamier and smoother feeling that the cheese provides.

One of the similarities of wine and cheese is that they can both be consumed without any special preparation and as such they are the perfect materials for unplanned snacks. Moreover, they are both natural products, which go very well with each other. Generally if the cheese is fresh and white, the accompanying wine should be crisp and fruity.

It is difficult to set down norms for the combination of wine and cheese as it basically depends upon individual choice and taste. You can, however, explore a lot of combinations and come up with your own ideal mixture. Mostly, red wine having more tannin than white wine is combined with hard cheese whereas soft cheese is paired with white wine. The basis for the combination of wine and cheese is tannin and it is because of tannin that these two go so well together.

Wine and cheese complement each other very well. Each extracts the best qualities from the other and the combination is mouth watering, to say the least. As each person has individual preferences, it is advisable to provide various types of both so that the consumer can mix and match, as he/she likes. Four ounces of cheese per person should be enough but you can provide a few varieties of the cheese such as soft, hard, mild and pungent. It is better to limit the varieties to five. An excellent combination can be made by pairing wine with a blue-veined cheese, which gives a delicious taste of toffee. However, you can use any cheese with light and fruity wines.

A word of caution: if you are not able to add cheese appropriately to the wine then you could land up with the worst possible combination. It is essential to maintain the correct equilibrium so that the taste of wine and the aroma of cheese remain harmoniously. Normally wine has a strong flavor of its own but with the addition of cheese this flavor reduces and although this reduction is not much, it is still remarkable. You should also avoid the addition of salt to any sparkling wine, as their combination is not good. Moreover, sparkling wines should also not be paired with cheese.

It is only by experimenting the various combinations that you can come up with the most compatible pairing techniques of cheese and wine that will suit your taste. It is not very easy to find such a combination, as it is not always that wine and cheese form a good combination. It might be easier to reach the Mars than find the perfect combination. It is, indeed, that difficult. Furthermore, if you are trying to match cheese with a dry red wine, may the Good Lord help you.

Whatever may the season be, there is nothing like having the right combination of cheese and wine. The fragrance of the wine coupled with the exotic aroma of cheese will linger on in your mind for a long time to come.
